MOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING (MADD)
There are over 300,000 injuries per year due to drunk driving accidents; another 10,000 die from these accidents. Mothers Against Drunk Driving seeks to end drunk driving, help prevent drugged driving, and support the victims of accidents involving drunk or drugged driving. MADD advocates for state and federal legislation penalizing drunk driving. It also raises funds to support victims of drunk driving.
FEEDING AMERICA
Feeding America is one of the largest domestic hunger-relief organizations in the United States. It strives to create a hunger-free America and eliminate food insecurity for the 42 million Americans facing hunger and insufficient food access, including 13 million children. Catania & Catania, P.A. is proud to contribute to Feeding America’s Tampa Bay food bank, which is responsible for distributing over 30 million meals to the hungry in our community.
BEST BUDDIES
Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicating to create one-to-one friendships, employment opportunities, leadership development, and inclusive living for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It serves all individuals afflicted with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those like Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and more.
SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is composed of men and women of every age, race, and socioeconomic status who volunteer their time and services to help neighbors in need. The organization has grown to 800,00 members in over 150 countries and has 1,500,000 volunteers. It is dedicated to providing assistance at the local level through training and education programs for the unemployed, food pantries for the hungry, and home visits, among other things. People in the Tampa Bay area may recognize the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Thrift Stores, each of which provide money for the community and meaningful employment and volunteer opportunities
OPERATION HELPING HAND
The Operation Helping Hand program connects certified recovery specialists to people struggling with substance abuse and addiction. Individuals have access to these specialists around the clock. The program offers assistance to substance users recovering from an overdose, persons arrested for offenses related to substance abuse, and individuals facing addiction and open to receiving help.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization with more than 1.9 million members around the world. Charity is at the heart of its work and its members’ faiths. Accordingly, it devotes substantial volunteer and financial resources to impoverished families and communities, persecuted Christians, and disaster relief, among other things.
SAINT PAUL CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
St. Paul Catholic Community is a parish and community of faith in Leesburg, Florida, that serves over 2,600 households. The parish provides ministries for prayer & worship, pastoral care, Christian services, social ministry, and administration/stewardship. It has served Lake County for over 50 years and continues to be a place of spiritual, educational, and social growth.
